Amics de Gaudí ha llegado a un acuerdo con los responsables y propietarios de la Torre Bellesguard de Gaudí para suscribir un acuerdo de colaboración entre ambas entidades. Como todos los convenios que AdG firma con instituciones y entidades del entorno gaudiniano; este acuerdo busca potenciar la investigación y la difusión de la figura y obra del artista.

 

El acuerdo permitirá organizar conferencias, simposios y exposiciones sobre Gaudí en Torre Bellesguard. Además, el convenio alienta a la participación de ambas entidades en investigaciones científicas sobre el edificio y su autor. En virtud del acuerdo, Torre Bellesguard Gaudí pasa a formar parte de los amigos institucionales de nuestra asociación. AdG se compromete además a asesorar a Torre Bellesguard en materia gaudiniana y a colaborar en la difusión y estudio del inmueble.

 

Beneficios para los socios

 

Gracias al acuerdo, los socios de Amics de Gaudí obtendrán un descuento en la entrada a Torre Bellesguard igual al aplicado a los menores de 18 años y jubilados. Además, los miembros de la asociación que realicen investigaciones académicas sobre el arquitecto o el edificio tendrán mayores facilidades en el desarrollo de sus estudios. Torre Bellesguard, además, se compromete a ceder espacios a la Asociación Amics de Gaudí que estén relacionados con la institución, el artista o su obra.

Un edificio singular

 

La Torre Bellesguard fue construida por Antoni Gaudí entre 1900 y 1909. Sus formas rectas, muy poco habituales en la obra del arquitecto, están inspiradas en el castillo medieval de Martí I l’Humà, que vivió en Bellesguard hasta su muerte en 1410. Conocedor de la historia, Gaudí construyó un castillo a medio camino entre el gótico y el modernismo y restaura los restos del palacio medieval, que forman parte de los jardines de la finca. Para la construcción del edificio, Gaudí estuvo ayudado por Domènec Sugrañes, autor de los bancos de azulejos de la entrada y la casa del portero; y Joan Rubió, que construyó el viaducto de desvío del camino a la finca. Bellesguard fue catalogado como Bien de Interés Cultural el 24 de julio de 1969. 

 

La obra pertenece al período neogótico de Gaudí (1888-1898), etapa en que el arquitecto se inspiró sobre todo en el arte gótico medieval. Gaudí lo asume de forma libre, personal e intentando mejorar sus soluciones estructurales. Así, por ejemplo, el arquitecto modernista elimina la necesidad de contrafuertes mediante el empleo de superficies regladas, y suprime cresterías y calados excesivos. Gaudí estudió con profundidad el gótico catalán, balear y rosellonés, así como el leonés y el castellano en sus estancias en León y Burgos. Estas referencias son claras en otras obras del artista como la Casa Botines de León, el Palacio Episcopal de Astorga o el Colegio de las Teresianas de Ganduxer, en Barcelona.
