MoraBanc, los propietarios de la Casa Vicens desde 2014, planean abrir al público el edificio de Gaudí este otoño. Será la primera vez que esta primera obra de Antoni Gaudí se exhiba, ya que los últimos 130 años ha sido una residencia particular. La Casa Vicens es el único edificio gaudiniano Patrimonio de la Humanidad que todavía no era visitable. El inmueble recibió esta consideración de la UNESCO en el año 2005, junto con otros edificios de Gaudí como la Sagrada Familia, la Cripta Güell o La Pedrera.

 

Los responsables del inmueble esperan recibir 150.000 visitantes al año, una cifra mucho inferior a la de otras obras de Gaudí, pero que se enmarca en un modelo de turismo sostenible que Casa Vicens quiere potenciar. El objetivo es que el aforo se limite a unas 25-50 personas cada 30 minutos; y que no se superen las 500 visitas diarias. Aún no se ha hecho público el precio de las entradas, pero rondarán los 12 o 23 euros. La rehabilitación de la Casa Vicens ha costado unos 4 millones de euros y ha sido encargada a José Martínez Lapeña, de Martínez Lapeña-Torres Arquitectes.

El edificio está situado en la calle Carolines 24, en el barcelonés barrio de Gràcia, y es la primera casa proyectada por Gaudí. Fue un encargo del industrial Manel Vicens en 1883, cuando Gaudí tenía tan sólo 31 años. Los Vicens eran propietarios de una fábrica de cerámica (de ahí el característico embaldosado de la fachada) y deseaban una segunda residencia veraniega para la familia. El edificio fue adquirido en 1899 por la familia Herrero-Jover, sus propietarios hasta la fecha.

 

El proyecto museológico de la Casa Vicens (que reproducimos a continuación) correrá a cargo de Marta Antuñano; y la dirección del inmueble la llevará a cabo Joan Abellà.

 

Preservación y recuperación de la obra de Gaudí

 

El objetivo principal de la propuesta museológica de la Casa Vicens es recuperar y poner en valor la obra original de la casa proyectada por Antoni Gaudí entre los años 1883 y 1885, dado que el edificio y la finca han sufrido varias transformaciones desde su primera construcción.

 

Durante los más de 130 años de historia de la casa, el edificio se ha convertido en un reflejo inmediato de las transformaciones y cambios en la vida familiar de sus residentes y de las modificaciones urbanísticas municipales. Uno de los cambios más significativos se produjo en 1925, cuando la casa de veraneo fue ampliada por encargo de la familia Jover, propietaria de la casa desde 1899, para convertirla en su residencia habitual.

 

El proyecto de reforma fue proyectado por Joan Bautista Serra de Martínez (1888-1962) -arquitecto con quien Gaudí tenía amistad- y contó con su visto bueno. En aquellos momentos, la Casa Vicens pasó de ser una casa unifamiliar a acoger tres viviendas, uno por planta. La imprescindible construcción de una nueva escalera para acceder a los tres pisos, conllevó la desaparición de la escala original de la obra de Gaudí. El ensanchamiento de la calle de les Carolines, que se llevó a cabo al mismo tiempo que se ampliaba la casa, conllevó también una modificación significativa del acceso a la casa.

Con esta ampliación, el inmueble aumentó prácticamente el doble de su superficie. Como, paralelamente, el jardín también fue ampliado hasta el límite con la actual avenida del Príncep d’Astúries, la propiedad de la Casa Vicens llega entonces a su momento de máxima expansión (foto). A partir de 1935, la casa sufre varias modificaciones hasta 1964, año en que la finca alcanza el estado en que ha llegado a nuestros días.

 

Con el objetivo de mantener al máximo el rigor histórico y científico, el equipo del proyecto ha consultado diferentes fuentes documentales de información de la época para ser el máximo fiel posible al proyecto original.

 

La visita a la casa será completada con una exposición permanente, que girará en torno a los tres ejes siguientes: la historia de la Casa Vicens; la Casa Vicens como imprescindible manifiesto de la obra de Gaudí; y la casa en su contexto social, cultural y artístico. La Casa Vicens contará también con un programa de exposiciones temporales y unos programas con actividades culturales y educativas para todos los públicos.
